Hey Reader,
I made soup for my neighbor this week. I carried it over to his house in an old lululemon tote and a couple of mason jars. It felt like a tangible, simple act of love I could commit to this week.
I'm thinking of you. I'm hoping your recovery is gentle. I wish you well. All whispered into the pot as it bubbled.
A couple hours of my day given freely because I wanted to. I want to be this type of neighbor. The neighbor who brings you soup when you're recovering.
And this wouldn't have been possible, if I had overfilled my Wednesday with obligations and shoulds. In fact, my client who cancelled doesn't know this, but because they needed to reschedule, I was able to make my neighbor soup. Thanks, Universe.
This time of the year often feels overwhelming. There's just so many things on our to-do lists. Parties, spirit week at school, teacher gifts, hosting, baking, finances....
I've made a more conscious effort to not get swept away by the chaos this year.
It hasn't been perfect, but I've noticed the shift in my own nervous system as I've made time for micro-moments of rest, relaxation, and my own joy.

SOMATIC TIP FOR BUSINESS:
make a little space
I don't have a lot to say about business the week before Christmas. Instead, I'll offer you a gentle reminder to make a little more space for the magic with your family.
Maybe you can't completely unplug, that's ok. What moments can you hold sacred?
What moments can you be fully present? Maybe for a board game, or cookie making, or the Christmas movie with hot cocoa?
Plan it out now. Set yourself up for greater success. Let your team know your protected time.
And then take a deeper breath. Stop clenching your jaw. Roll your neck out, and be here now.

One of my favorite teachers says if you think you're enlightened, go spend a week with your family.
Bazinga!
Why is it that we can do all the work to grow and heal, but then when you pull up to mom and pop's house, it's like you're 12 all over again?
Or maybe you're watching this pattern with your spouse as you spend time with the in-laws.
So much of our family dynamics play out in our subconscious. We don't even realize how we're being until we're exhausted, there's a blow out fight, or our spouse is giving us the serious "WTF is going on look".
So much of coaching is bringing the unconscious to the light -- becoming aware of these patterns we play into and WHY. (We'll be exploring this is Session 4 of The Relaxed Woman.)
And while I can't fix all of this for you the week before Christmas, here is what I'll offer you.
Can you notice these patterns with just a bit more curiosity and compassion this season?
This can sound like saying to yourself, "Oh how interesting, I'm doing that thing again," instead of scolding yourself.
How interesting. I wonder what this is really about?
Then breathe. Take a lap. Drink a glass of water.
We've all got our quirks. Be gentle with yourself this week.
